Advancing incident reconstruction for robotics

Datamplify brings its incident reconstruction expertise to robotics and operational technology.

Building on its work in cybersecurity, Datamplify is working with DataBot Labs, a robotics company in Almere, the Netherlands, to extend the approach of its security incident investigation module from IT and cybersecurity to robotic and operational technology (OT) systems. DataBot Labs designs and builds its own robots, including Goliath, a mobile platform with a robotic arm that runs on ROS 2.

Modern robots combine sensors, AI perception, task commands, motion planning and controllers. When a robot run fails or behaves in an unexpected way, the evidence is spread across many software components, log files and recordings. This makes it difficult to see what happened and where the problem started. This is where Datamplify’s expertise in connecting and analysing complex data becomes particularly relevant.

To address this challenge, DataBot Labs shares runtime logs and ROS 2 recordings from real robot runs, while Datamplify uses this data to bring robot events into its incident reconstruction platform, put them in one chronological timeline and show how they relate. The goal is to reconstruct what happened across sensors, AI perception, commands and robot motion. As a next step, robot events will be correlated with IT and network events, so that a single investigation covers both the robot and the systems around it.

This collaboration marks a further step in applying Datamplify’s incident reconstruction approach to new technological environments.
